About us
The Charlotte Caving Club is the Charlotte, North Carolina area grotto of the National Speleological Society. We are focused on caving safely, responsibly and having a kick ass time while doing it. When a few local members of the National Speleological Society realized there was not a Charlotte, NC area grotto, they set out to change that. The Charlotte Caving Club was created to promote safe caving, along with cave conservation, and giving back to the speleological community. Safety is our priority, and we will make every attempt to ensure our members maintain a constant state of safety and awareness. Our members make up a wide array of beneficial backgrounds, including rope technicians, cave rescue, medical, military and law enforcement. The Charlotte Caving Club attempts to organize or participate in caving events monthly, from TAG, VAR, SERA, Karst-O-Rama, and others. If you have a background in caving and would like to join others, this is the place for you. If you have been interested in caving but do not have the knowledge or equipment needed, we would love to teach you how to enjoy this sport responsibly and safely! We try and plan a monthly caving trip!
Our meetings are usually held quarterly during a pre-planned trip to accommodate business and caving together! Please check out our membership tab for further information, or send us an email!
Our Friends at Pacific Medical Training have written up a great article about First Aid Basics in the wilderness, check it out here:
